The typical personal training business model focuses on selling finite packages of sessions or time based programs with set end dates. For the vast majority of people, this model fails to achieve permanent change and permanent results. Similar to yo-yo dieting where weight is repeatedly lost only to be regained, this model of personal training results in yo-yo fitness.
Fitness Home Delivery, Inc does it differently. It is setup as a monthly fee-based program, focused solely on long-term change leading to permanent results as opposed to short-term solutions leading to short-term results. How does this work?
First, it enables clients to begin with a long-term mindset. The reality is, most health and fitness related habits have been established over decades. These habits cannot be undone in a 6 week or even 6 month program despite what marketers would have one believe. Long-term permanent change takes years; typically 2-4 depending on the client. I want clients to understand this upfront. Therefore, with a monthly automatic fee, there is no set end date or set number of sessions. The monthly fee, and thus the commitment to change, needs to be integrated into the client's lifestyle just as a mortgage payment, car payment, or phone bill would be for a long time period.
Second, the monthly fee allows me to keep my total number of clients low, and therefore, the total number of sessions I offer per week low. This model is similar to concierge or VIP doctors who charge a yearly fee. Their patient count is lower than the typical physician and they can spend more time with each patient. Likewise, I have more time available for each client including OUTSIDE of sessions. This is vital and it is a key difference between myself and the typical personal trainer. Remember, 80% of achieving most health and fitness related goals is related to mental exertion which primarily occurs OUTSIDE of the actual training session. I interact with my clients almost daily helping them to not only obtain their health and fitness goals but maintain them for the long-term.
